"I found a great position,then I got laid off," Altamirano said."I've always had a passion for it," Altamirano said. She moved to Las Vegas for another job.Even though she thought the position was great,it wasn't everything she dreamed of. "The plan was always to start my own business," Altamirano said.In her spare time,Altamirano would host parties at her house and help friends select outfits,whether it was for a wedding or for work.Her vision was to find affordable outfits that would fit for the business world and for going out. Altamirano familiarized herself with fashion by reading Us Weekly magazine and by staying during movie credits to see who the designers were. When Altamirano was laid off from her second job,her fiance encouraged her to carry out her business plan."I told all my friends (who would come to the parties),and they said,'It is about time,' " she said abercrombie jeans. Instead of braving malls,Altamirano wanted to create an alternative shopping option.Because men don't shop as frequently,she said she doesn't know whether it is wise to open a store specific to them.However,she said she might consider dedicating part of the store to men's clothing. Arlene Bordinhao,who helps with Amari's public relations and shops at the store,said even with the recession,women still shop. In the future,Altamirano wants to open locations in New Mexico,where she is from,and Oklahoma,where her fiance is from."For women,clothing is our visual currency," Altamirano said."We wear it because we want to feel good about ourselves."
